Job Overview
Datadog, a leading global platform for cloud-scale monitoring and analytics, is seeking a Senior Sales Engineer to join our team in Kansas. In this pivotal role, you will partner with Account Executives to accelerate sales of Datadog's comprehensive observability solutions to enterprise clients. You will leverage your deep technical expertise to demonstrate product value, resolve complex customer challenges, and drive revenue growth through consultative selling in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the primary technical advisor during sales engagements, conducting customized product demonstrations and proofs-of-concept tailored to customer infrastructure and use cases. Collaborate closely with sales teams to develop winning strategies, qualify leads, and navigate intricate procurement processes for large-scale deals. Respond to RFPs and RFIs with detailed technical proposals, while educating prospects on Datadog's integrations with AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, and other modern tech stacks. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, from engineers to C-level executives, ensuring post-sale success through smooth handoffs to customer success teams. Stay ahead of industry trends in cloud observability, APM, log management, and security to position Datadog as the optimal solution. Contribute to internal knowledge sharing by creating sales enablement materials and mentoring junior engineers.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Minimum 5+ years in a pre-sales, solutions engineering, or technical sales role, ideally within SaaS or cloud infrastructure sectors. Proven track record of closing six-figure deals in competitive markets, with hands-on experience in Linux/Unix systems, scripting (Python/Bash), and container orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
Skills
Technical Proficiency: Strong command of networking protocols, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), databases (SQL/NoSQL), and monitoring tools. In-depth knowledge of Datadog products or similar (New Relic, Splunk, Dynatrace). Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts for non-technical audiences. Analytical mindset for troubleshooting and optimizing distributed systems. Customer-centric approach, thriving in high-pressure deal cycles. Proficiency in tools like Salesforce, Zoom, and collaboration platforms.
