Job Overview
Bethany College, a premier private liberal arts institution in Lindsborg, Kansas, is seeking a dynamic Executive Director of Development & Marketing. This pivotal leadership role oversees comprehensive fundraising, alumni relations, and marketing initiatives to advance the college's mission of fostering academic excellence, personal growth, and community impact. Reporting to the President, the Executive Director will spearhead strategies that enhance donor engagement, brand visibility, and revenue streams essential for campus innovation and student success.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute a strategic development plan, including annual fund campaigns, major gift cultivation, planned giving programs, and grant writing to meet ambitious fundraising goals. Lead marketing and communications efforts, crafting compelling narratives across digital platforms, print media, social channels, and events to elevate Bethany College's national profile. Build and nurture relationships with alumni, donors, corporations, and foundations through personalized outreach, stewardship events, and data-driven engagement tactics. Oversee a talented team of development officers, marketing specialists, and support staff, fostering collaboration and professional growth. Analyze metrics on donor retention, campaign ROI, and brand sentiment using CRM tools like Salesforce or Raiser's Edge to refine approaches and report progress to senior leadership. Collaborate with academic departments, admissions, and athletics to align initiatives with institutional priorities, such as scholarships, facility upgrades, and program expansions.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, nonprofit management, or related field; Master's or advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in development, fundraising, or marketing leadership, ideally within higher education or nonprofit sectors. Proven track record of securing major gifts, exceeding revenue targets, and launching successful marketing campaigns. Experience managing budgets exceeding $1M and leading cross-functional teams.
Skills
Exceptional strategic planning and analytical abilities with proficiency in data analytics, fundraising software, and digital marketing tools (Google Analytics, Adobe Suite, HubSpot). Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with expertise in storytelling, public speaking, and negotiation.
