Job Overview
Hitachi Energy, a global leader in advancing a sustainable energy future for all, is seeking a dynamic Account Manager - Utility Sales to join our team in either Tulsa, OK or Columbus, OH. In this pivotal role, you will cultivate and expand relationships with utility customers, promoting our cutting-edge portfolio of high-voltage products, grid automation solutions, and digital services designed to enhance grid reliability, efficiency, and resilience. As part of our High Voltage Products division, you will play a key role in driving revenue growth while supporting the energy transition to renewables and smart grids.
Key Responsibilities
You will develop and execute strategic account plans to identify opportunities, negotiate contracts, and close deals with major utility providers. Responsibilities include conducting market analysis to understand customer needs, delivering compelling sales presentations, collaborating with cross-functional teams such as engineering and product management to tailor solutions, and achieving sales targets through proactive relationship management. Additionally, you will monitor account performance, provide regular forecasts and reports to leadership, participate in trade shows and industry events to generate leads, and ensure customer satisfaction post-sale to foster long-term partnerships and repeat business.
Required Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field is required, with a preference for candidates holding an advanced degree or MBA. You must have at least 5-7 years of proven experience in B2B sales within the utility, energy, or power sector, including a track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas. Familiarity with utility regulations, electrical grid infrastructure, and high-voltage equipment is essential. Willingness to travel up to 50% within the assigned territory is necessary.

Success in this role demands exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders. Strong analytical abilities for market trend analysis and CRM proficiency (e.g., Salesforce) are crucial. You should exhibit a customer-centric mindset, resilience in handling objections, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Technical knowledge of transformers, substations, or SCADA systems is highly desirable, along with strategic thinking to uncover upsell opportunities.
