Full Description

Job Overview American Family Care (AFC), a leading provider of urgent and primary care services, is seeking a dedicated Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) for our state-of-the-art clinic in Longmont, Colorado. In this full-time role, you will play a vital part in delivering efficient, compassionate care to patients of all ages experiencing non-emergency acute illnesses and injuries. AFC is committed to accessible healthcare, operating extended hours to serve the community without the need for appointments. Our clinics are equipped with advanced diagnostic tools, on-site labs, and imaging services to support rapid assessments and treatments. Key Responsibilities As an Urgent Care NP or PA, you will conduct thorough patient evaluations, including history taking, physical exams, and ordering diagnostic tests such as labs, X-rays, and EKGs. You will diagnose and manage a wide range of conditions, from respiratory infections and lacerations to sprains and chronic disease exacerbations, prescribing medications and treatments as appropriate. Responsibilities include performing minor procedures like suturing, splinting, and abscess drainage, as well as providing preventive care counseling. You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and support staff to ensure seamless patient flow in a high-volume setting, document encounters accurately in our electronic health record (EHR) system, and maintain compliance with all clinical protocols and regulations. Expect to handle 25-35 patients per shift, prioritizing urgent cases while delivering exceptional patient experience. Required Qualifications Candidates must hold a Master's degree or higher in Nursing (for NPs) or Physician Assistant Studies, with current national certification (e.g., ANCC, AANP for NPs; NCCPA for PAs) and an active, unrestricted Colorado license. A minimum of 2 years of experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, or primary care is required, along with DEA registration and BLS/ACLS certification. Familiarity with EHR systems and proficiency in managing acute care across pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations is essential. Skills Success in this role demands strong clinical assessment and decision-making abilities, excellent communication for patient education and team coordination, and proficiency in procedural skills. You should thrive in fast-paced environments, demonstrate empathy under pressure, and possess keen attention to detail for accurate documentation and risk management. Company Info American Family Care has been a pioneer in walk-in urgent care since 1982, with over 300 locations nationwide. Our Longmont clinic offers a modern facility focused on quality care and patient satisfaction, supported by a collaborative team culture that values work-life balance. Benefits We offer competitive compensation with productivity incentives, comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with match, paid time off, CME allowance, malpractice coverage, and flexible scheduling options. Growth Opportunities AFC promotes from within, providing ongoing training, leadership development, and opportunities to advance into supervisory or multi-clinic roles. Join us to grow your career while making a meaningful impact on the Longmont community.
