Job Overview BECU, a leading credit union committed to empowering members through innovative financial solutions, is seeking a Senior Software Developer Engineer in Test (SDET) with expertise in Accessibility Testing. In this pivotal role, you will develop and execute automated testing strategies to ensure all digital platforms, applications, and websites comply with WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 guidelines, ADA standards, and Section 508 requirements. Based in Idaho, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, designers, and product managers to embed accessibility into the software development lifecycle, enhancing user experiences for diverse audiences. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain robust automation frameworks using tools like Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright integrated with accessibility scanners such as Axe-core, WAVE, and Lighthouse. Conduct comprehensive accessibility audits, including keyboard navigation, screen reader compatibility (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver), color contrast analysis, ARIA attribute validation, and focus management testing. Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and remediate accessibility issues early in the development process, providing actionable feedback and training on best practices. Create detailed test plans, scripts, and reports to track compliance metrics and regression testing. Stay abreast of evolving accessibility standards and emerging tools, contributing to continuous improvement of testing methodologies. Participate in code reviews to advocate for accessible code patterns and mentor junior team members on inclusive design principles. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Minimum 5+ years of experience in software testing, with at least 3 years focused on SDET roles and accessibility testing. Proven track record of implementing accessibility testing in Agile/DevOps environments. Strong programming skills in JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, Python, or C#. Skills Deep knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG, ARIA, HTML semantics). Proficiency in automation tools (Selenium WebDriver, Appium, Cypress) and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions). Experience with assistive technologies and browser developer tools for accessibility debugging. Familiarity with performance testing tools and version control systems like Git. Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and strong communication skills for cross-team collaboration. Certifications such as CPACC, WAS, or similar are highly desirable.
