Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will function as a first assistant during surgical procedures, including positioning patients, providing hemostasis, suturing, and wound closure under the direction of the surgeon. Responsibilities also include conducting pre-operative patient assessments, developing care plans, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and managing post-operative follow-up care. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient transitions, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and maintain accurate documentation in electronic health records. Additionally, the role involves educating patients and families on surgical processes, recovery expectations, and health management strategies to promote optimal outcomes.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must hold a valid Nurse Practitioner license with RNFA certification in New Jersey or be a certified Physician Assistant with appropriate surgical training. A Master's degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program is required, along with current certification from the NCCPA or ANCC. Minimum of 2 years of experience in perioperative nursing or surgical assisting is essential, with BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications mandatory. New Jersey Controlled Substance and DEA registration are also required.
