This dynamic role involves traveling throughout the Wichita area to meet with contractors, builders, and project managers, promoting our extensive range of products including roofing, siding, windows, and lumber. Key Responsibilities
Prospect and generate new leads by networking at industry events, cold calling, and leveraging referrals to expand our client base. Conduct on-site visits to assess project requirements, demonstrate products, and offer expert recommendations on the best materials for residential and commercial builds. Negotiate contracts, process orders, and ensure timely delivery while maintaining accurate records in our CRM system. Build and nurture long-term relationships with clients to secure repeat business and upsell opportunities. Collaborate with inside sales, warehouse, and management teams to resolve issues and optimize the customer experience. Track sales performance against targets, prepare reports, and participate in sales meetings to strategize improvements. Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activities, and product innovations to position Kansas Building Products as the preferred supplier.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years of outside sales experience, ideally in building materials, construction supplies, or a similar B2B environment. Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle for daily travel within Wichita and surrounding areas. Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas in a field-based role.
Skills
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to engage diverse clients effectively. Strong negotiation and closing abilities with a results-oriented mindset. Proficiency in CRM software such as Salesforce or similar tools, plus Microsoft Office Suite. Deep knowledge of construction industry products, terminology, and market dynamics. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and work in various weather conditions during site visits.
