Job Overview: As an Outpatient Registered Nurse at Fresenius Medical Care in Chicago, Illinois, you will play a vital role in delivering life-sustaining dialysis treatment to patients with chronic kidney disease. Working in a supportive clinical environment, you will provide direct patient care, monitor treatment progress, and collaborate closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate healthcare delivery.
Key Responsibilities: Administer hemodialysis treatments according to established protocols and physician orders while continuously monitoring patients for any adverse reactions or complications. Perform comprehensive patient assessments before, during, and after dialysis sessions, documenting vital signs, lab results, and treatment responses accurately. Educate patients and their families on kidney disease management, dietary guidelines, medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications to promote overall wellness. Maintain strict infection control standards, prepare dialysis machines and equipment, and respond promptly to any emergencies that may arise during treatment. Collaborate with nephrologists, dietitians, and social workers to develop individualized care plans that address both medical and psychosocial needs of patients.
Required Qualifications: Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the state of Illinois with current Basic Life Support certification. Minimum of one year of nursing experience, preferably in dialysis, critical care, or a related specialty. Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to respond effectively in high-pressure situations are essential for success in this role.
