Full Description

The Borgen Project is offering an exciting opportunity for a Social Media and Digital Marketing Intern based in Grand Island, Nebraska. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in digital marketing, social media management, and content creation while supporting a nonprofit organization dedicated to global poverty reduction. Interns will work closely with the marketing team to develop and implement digital strategies that increase awareness, engagement, and support for the organization's mission. The role offers valuable exposure to the nonprofit sector and the chance to contribute to meaningful campaigns that make a real-world impact. Key responsibilities include managing and growing the organization's presence across multiple social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Interns will create compelling written and visual content, schedule posts, monitor engagement metrics, and analyze performance data to optimize campaigns. Additional tasks involve assisting with email marketing efforts, developing digital content calendars, conducting market research, and supporting SEO and website content updates. Interns may also collaborate on multimedia projects including video editing, graphic design, and storytelling initiatives that highlight the organization's impact. Applicants should be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in marketing, communications, journalism, digital media, or a related field. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with a solid understanding of social media platforms and digital marketing trends. Proficiency in tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Hootsuite, or Google Analytics is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Previous experience managing social media accounts or contributing to digital campaigns is a plus. The Borgen Project is a nonprofit organization focused on advocating for global poverty reduction and influencing U.S. foreign policy. Interns will gain valuable experience working in a mission-driven environment and will have opportunities to develop professional skills in digital marketing, content strategy, and nonprofit communications. The internship provides mentorship, networking opportunities, and exposure to the day-to-day operations of a dynamic advocacy organization. Benefits of this internship include flexible scheduling to accommodate academic commitments, opportunities for professional development, and the chance to build a portfolio of work that demonstrates real campaign results. Interns will receive guidance from experienced marketing professionals and may be considered for future employment opportunities within the organization. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates seeking practical experience in digital marketing within the nonprofit sector and looking to make a meaningful contribution to global advocacy efforts.
