Job Overview: Prairie View A&M University, a proud member of the Texas A&M University System, is seeking an experienced Director of Marketing to spearhead the university's marketing and communications efforts. Located in Prairie View, Texas, this full-time leadership position offers the opportunity to shape the institution's brand, boost student recruitment, and amplify its impact as a Historically Black College and University (HBCU) committed to academic excellence and community service. The Director will collaborate with academic departments, alumni relations, and external partners to develop innovative campaigns that resonate with diverse audiences.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies aligned with the university's strategic goals, including digital campaigns, content creation, and multimedia production. Oversee a team of marketing professionals, managing budgets, vendor relationships, and performance metrics to ensure high ROI on initiatives. Lead branding efforts, market research, and analytics to identify trends and optimize outreach for prospective students, donors, and community stakeholders. Coordinate crisis communications, event promotions, and public relations activities to enhance Prairie View A&M's reputation regionally and nationally. Foster partnerships with media outlets and influencers to expand visibility and engagement.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive marketing experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, ideally in higher education or public sector organizations. Proven track record of successful campaign management and team leadership. Strong understanding of higher education marketing dynamics, including enrollment strategies and diversity-focused outreach.
Skills: Exceptional leadership and strategic planning abilities, with expertise in digital marketing tools such as Google Analytics, SEO, SEM, and social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn). Proficiency in content management systems, CRM software like Slate or Salesforce, and Adobe Creative Suite. Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in stakeholder engagement and public speaking. Data-driven decision-making, budget management, and project management expertise. Cultural competence and commitment to equity, inclusion, and serving underrepresented populations.
