Full Description

Two Sigma is seeking a Quantitative Software Engineer to join its New York engineering team. In this role, you will collaborate with quantitative researchers and data scientists to design, develop, and optimize high-performance software systems that support sophisticated investment and trading strategies. Your work will directly influence how the firm processes vast datasets, models complex financial instruments, and executes time-sensitive trading decisions. Key Responsibilities include architecting scalable, low-latency platforms for data ingestion, transformation, and real-time analytics. You will implement robust algorithms that enable rapid experimentation with quantitative models while ensuring system reliability and fault tolerance. Daily tasks involve writing clean, efficient code in languages such as Python, C++, or Java, reviewing peer contributions, and participating in design discussions that shape the technical direction of research infrastructure. You will also monitor production systems, diagnose performance bottlenecks, and continuously improve the tooling used by researchers. Required Qualifications include a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related quantitative field. Candidates should demonstrate strong proficiency in at least one systems-level programming language and have experience building large-scale data processing applications. Familiarity with financial markets, statistical modeling, or machine learning techniques is highly valued. Essential Skills include expertise in algorithm design, distributed systems, and performance optimization. Proficiency with modern development practices such as version control, automated testing, and continuous integration is expected. The ideal candidate communicates effectively across technical and non-technical teams and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Two Sigma is a technology-driven investment firm that combines scientific rigor with advanced engineering to uncover opportunities in global markets. The company fosters a culture of intellectual curiosity, continuous learning, and cross-functional collaboration. Benefits include competitive compensation, comprehensive health coverage, retirement planning support, and generous time-off policies. Employees have access to professional development programs, mentorship opportunities, and internal mobility pathways that support long-term career growth within the organization.
