Job Overview: MLee Medical Employment is seeking a skilled and dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Emergency Department team in Gypsum, Kansas. This critical role involves delivering high-quality, timely medical care to patients experiencing acute illnesses, injuries, and emergencies in a dynamic hospital environment. As a key member of the healthcare team, you will work closely with physicians, nurses, and support staff to ensure efficient patient throughput and optimal outcomes in high-pressure situations.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct rapid assessments and triage of patients upon arrival in the ED, performing comprehensive physical exams, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests such as labs, X-rays, and EKGs. Diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions including trauma, cardiac events, infections, and respiratory distress, prescribing medications, administering treatments, and suturing wounds as needed. Stabilize critical patients, initiate life-saving interventions like IV access and airway management, and make swift decisions on admissions, discharges, or transfers. Document all encounters accurately in electronic health records, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for seamless care coordination, and educate patients and families on treatment plans and follow-up care. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, maintain compliance with hospital protocols, and respond effectively during codes and mass casualty events.
Required Qualifications: Must hold a valid Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) license in Kansas, with national certification from ANCC, AANP, NCCPA, or equivalent. Graduate from an accredited NP or PA program with a Master's degree or higher. Current DEA registration and BLS/ACLS certification required; PALS and ATLS preferred. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in emergency medicine, urgent care, or critical care settings. Strong knowledge of emergency procedures and pharmacology.
Skills: Excellent clinical judgment and decision-making under pressure, advanced assessment and procedural skills including intubation, central lines, and fracture management. Proficiency in EHR systems like Epic or Cerner, superior communication and interpersonal abilities for patient interactions and team collaboration. Ability to multitask in fast-paced environments, adaptability to shift work including nights, weekends, and holidays, and commitment to evidence-based practice and patient safety.
