Job Overview Rush University Medical Center is currently seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse 1 to join our dynamic healthcare team in Chicago, Illinois. Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized care plans. Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and perform clinical procedures in accordance with established protocols and best practices. Collaborate effectively with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure coordinated patient treatment and optimal outcomes. Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care instructions. Maintain accurate and detailed electronic medical records while adhering to all regulatory and compliance standards. Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide critical interventions as needed. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice projects to enhance patient safety and care delivery. Required Qualifications Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the state of Illinois is required. Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience in an acute care or hospital setting is preferred. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited institution is strongly preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association is mandatory, with Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred for certain units. Skills Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities are essential for success in this role. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Proficiency in electronic health record systems and nursing documentation is necessary. The ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment while demonstrating compassion and professionalism is vital.
