Job Overview Datadog, a leading global platform for cloud-scale monitoring and analytics, is seeking a Senior Sales Engineer to join our dynamic sales team in Kansas. As a trusted technical advisor, you will collaborate with Account Executives to demonstrate the full value of Datadog's observability platform to prospective enterprise customers. This full-time role offers the chance to influence major deals, solve complex technical challenges, and contribute to the company's continued expansion in the competitive SaaS market. Key Responsibilities You will lead product demonstrations and proof-of-concept (PoC) implementations tailored to customer needs, articulating how Datadog's tools for infrastructure monitoring, application performance management (APM), log management, and security deliver measurable business outcomes. Partner closely with sales teams to qualify opportunities, respond to RFPs, and develop winning technical strategies that address customer pain points in real-time observability. Conduct discovery sessions to uncover technical requirements, architect customized solutions, and provide post-sale support to ensure seamless onboarding and customer success. Stay ahead of industry trends in cloud-native technologies, DevOps practices, and competitive landscapes to position Datadog as the superior choice. Travel may be required for customer meetings, conferences, and team events, with a focus on exceeding quarterly revenue goals through high-impact technical sales motions. Required Qualifications Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, along with 5+ years of experience in sales engineering, solutions architecture, or pre-sales technical roles within SaaS or enterprise software environments. Proven track record of closing six-figure deals in cloud monitoring, IT operations, or observability spaces is essential. Strong understanding of modern cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP), container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker), and programming concepts in languages like Python, Go, or Java. Skills Technical proficiency with monitoring tools, APIs, and scripting is critical, complemented by exceptional communication skills to translate complex technical concepts into compelling business value for C-level executives and engineers. You should thrive in fast-paced, quota-driven settings, demonstrating analytical problem-solving, customer empathy, and the ability to handle objections effectively. Familiarity with Datadog products or similar platforms (e.g., New Relic, Splunk, Dynatrace) is highly desirable, along with experience in CRM tools like Salesforce and presentation software.
