Join First National Bank of Omaha as an AWS Software Engineer on a greenfield development project in a hybrid Omaha role, building innovative cloud-native solutions for the financial services industry.
Full Description
First National Bank of Omaha is seeking an experienced AWS Software Engineer to lead greenfield development initiatives in a hybrid work environment located in Omaha, Nebraska. This full-time engineering role offers the opportunity to design, develop, and deploy cutting-edge cloud-native applications that support critical banking operations and customer-facing services. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to architect scalable solutions using modern AWS technologies while adhering to strict security and compliance standards required in the financial sector.
Key responsibilities include designing and implementing microservices architecture on AWS, developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment, and collaborating with product managers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions. The engineer will also be responsible for writing clean, maintainable code, performing code reviews, troubleshooting production issues, and ensuring all applications meet performance, reliability, and security benchmarks. Additional duties involve participating in architectural decision-making, mentoring junior developers, and continuously evaluating emerging technologies to improve system efficiency and scalability.
Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, along with proven experience in AWS cloud services such as EC2, Lambda, RDS, S3, and API Gateway. Candidates must demonstrate strong proficiency in at least one programming language including Java, Python, or Node.js, as well as experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation, along with a solid understanding of DevOps practices and agile methodologies, is essential. Prior experience in the financial services or banking industry is highly preferred.
Essential skills for this position encompass cloud architecture design, microservices development, automated testing frameworks, database management, and secure coding practices. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment are required. The ideal candidate will possess AWS certifications and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
