Job Description

We are seeking a Staff Software Developer in Test to design and execute comprehensive systems-level test strategies for Cribl's distributed data platforms in a fully remote environment.

Full Description

Cribl is looking for a Staff Software Developer in Test to join our engineering organization and lead the design and execution of advanced systems testing for our cloud-native observability and data pipeline products. In this senior role you will architect end-to-end test frameworks that validate performance, scalability, and reliability across complex distributed environments. You will work closely with product and platform teams to embed quality practices throughout the development lifecycle, ensuring our solutions meet the highest standards of enterprise-grade reliability. Your expertise will help us deliver robust, high-performance software that processes and routes massive volumes of machine data for organizations worldwide. As a Staff Software Developer in Test, you will define and implement automated test strategies that cover functional, integration, performance, and chaos testing scenarios. You will build scalable test infrastructure using modern tools and frameworks, mentor junior engineers on test methodologies, and collaborate with developers to identify and resolve defects early in the development process. Additional responsibilities include designing fault-injection experiments, analyzing production telemetry to improve test coverage, and driving continuous improvement initiatives that elevate overall product quality and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in software testing and quality engineering with a strong focus on systems-level validation in cloud or distributed environments. You should possess deep knowledge of test automation frameworks, performance testing tools, and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes. Proficiency in at least one major programming language and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines are essential. Strong analytical and communication skills are required to effectively partner with cross-functional teams and influence engineering practices at scale. Cribl offers a collaborative, mission-driven culture where innovation and continuous learning are highly valued. Employees enjoy comprehensive health and wellness benefits, flexible remote work arrangements, generous paid time off, and equity participation. Professional development opportunities include conference attendance, internal tech talks, and dedicated learning budgets to help you stay current with emerging technologies. Career growth paths are clearly defined, supporting progression into principal engineering, engineering management, or specialized technical leadership roles. Join Cribl and contribute to building the future of observability and data management for modern enterprises.
